Can anyone around here beat the druggies and slimy wheeler-dealers to this free Scarlet lady who was JUST posted on our local Craigslist? The inn is full, here....

My Husband of 50 years has passed on just recentley
I no longer have the time or desire to carry on caring for this bird
she brings to many memorys of my nights with my husband and me watching tv and enjoying our birds company
Im an older 85 year old woman and I just can not care for her as she needs anymore
I will give her away for free if you allow me to visit maybe once every year or so.
She is a handfed beautiful baby girl with alot of love and kisses to give. Healthy and just had her recent check up with a clean bill of health, you are more than welcome to speak with her Vet

I believe it is some sort of a scam...

Last Sunday, a gal called Bird Hut wanting to dump off two Scarlets, 5 years old and 5 month old, and an Umbrella Cockatoo. We told her we would take them in. She said she was on the coast and would bring them into Portland on Monday morning. She never showed up with the birds or would return our phone calls. We were willing to go get them. Then days later an ad shows up on Craigslist for a 5 year old Scarlet on the coast... no responses to emails or phone calls... and now this ad.... same thing.. no response to email. Also, three different stories on why this bird(s) needs a new home.


Be careful what information you give these people.. I am not sure what the real story is if there are truly birds involved that need new homes.

Well, as you know, we're full up, here, so I haven't contacted the poster, and won't. Not only do we not have room, but I have no place left to put a bird into quarantine.

Maybe it's a scam, although I don't have a clue what the purpose of the scam would be (email addys for spammimg, perhaps?). I just hope that if there IS a Scarlet needing a home, it ends up with good people, and not someone looking to resell it for drugs or whatever. You know how that can be....

Sounds like you did what you could by offering Deb. I agree, giving personal information in case it is a scam wouldn't be wise.

on craigs list can u report that you thinkits false and that its up to them to check

at kiji here they do thatforfalse postings ... i dont know if craigs list does it or not am just asking....
