I have the replacement filters and pre-filters sent on auto-ship so I don't forget to change them. I vacuum the pre-filter ever 3 or so days.

Ye s- thank you for the post Lisa! I've been looking at different brands, then going back and reading over your posts. There's just so many different brands out there and the prices vary a lot - but a lot of the specs seem close to the same - makes it confusing! What brands do you have? Do you find with having the birds you have to replace your filters more often than suggested?

Steph - check out the link in my post just above yours. I think the ones I have meet the requirements as noted in Lisa's thread on air purifiers. I really love mine and they are reasonable in price (and not bad to look at either)

I'm checking them out Kathie! Great price for 2 of them. I'm checking out all the Hunter purifiers they have. They have a different set of 2 for $164 that I'm looking at. I can't help but wonder if you pay a little more for something with the optional ionizer - and since I wouldn't be using that - hate to spend extra money on it if I could find one that works just as well but is cheaper because it doesn't have the ionizer on it. (I think that was a really long sentence!)

Kathie, are you able to turn off the Ionizing feature on those?

So these - only capture particles as small as .3 microns - the ones Kathie listed capture particles as small as .1 microns. They both have optional ionizers. These have higher CADR ratings than the others - and I believe can be used in bigger rooms than the others. So would these be better or not? Any idea?

All mine are from sears and are kenmore brands. LOVE LOVE LOVe them.
Last one I got was the progressive 295. I believe it is for a 20x22 room and I have it in my bedroom which is 12x14. no Ionizer button to even worry bout.
I too vaccume the filters regularly and have to do it today.
I think becuse I vaccume them so much, I dont replace the filters as much. Its the second filter that really costs ya. If you keep the first one clean, then the second stays cleaner longer.

The greys really put off alot of dust. I can kiss Emma's belly and look like I dipped my face in baby powder!

Yes, I am. I don't use that feature at all. What is also nice is that, when they send you the replacement filter, they also send enough of the pre-filter to replace a number of times. You merely cut it to fit.

I used to have these. I like the "tower" ones better. Also, they have flex pay so you can pay for them over a 4 month period of time with no interest. Gayla may be the Ebay princess, but I'm the home shopping QUEEN in ALL CAPS!
