#1 | | | Addiction? So, I have 4 birds and I love them all (for anyone who responded to my last thread, I cant give up the quaker, I'm just gona keep trying to work with her no matter what.. Its not in my heart to giver her away). I take care of all my babys excellent, most of my free time and money s devoted to them a long with my other pets (cat, rabbit, turtle, rats, and a beta fish). I was in petsmart today and normally I dont even bother with animals there because I dont trust them, but there was a senegal I had to play with. This guy laid on his back in my hand and let me scratch his bellie, he climbed up my arm and kissed me on the nose. I couldnt afford him, but its scary how close I came to going into debt. I dont have thre largest apartment in the world and the animals I have now are nicley spread out, but anymore I'd look like a petting zoo. But it was funny, how I was pacing back and forth trying to work out in my head how I could rationalize getting this parrot. I give my "children" everything I can, but its hard for me to admit I might not have anymore to give and admitting when enough is enough. Then of course I came home and tried to get my amazon to lay on his back and you can guess where that led too.... |

#9 | | | Re: Addiction? Oh, every cute bird I see, I want to bring home, especially if it's a baby. Dog knows, I'm sure that Z dreads it every time we go to a bird store or see someone trying to rehome a puppy :-).
Luckily, I can tell myself, "Nope, you're waiting for a baby girl Scarlet macaw, remember?", and be done with it. I like the flock just how it is for now. Everyone has and knows their place in the family, and it's as peaceful as you can get with a house full o'Macaws :-). But still 'n' all, the temptation is ALWAYS there. Like you, we need to win a big lottery :-). |
