Well here in the land of 10,000 lakes we are number 15.
I enjoy the lakes and the loons, If ya ever have watched on golden pond, that is the PEACE I enjoy, however most of our lakes up here are for the 300,000 dollar boats and the fast jet ski's and the skiers and lets not forget the great fishermen.
To sit back and enjoy a sun set as the loons sing is unheard of.
There are so many wonderful things that happen each and everyday around us, if one could just sit back and see all the beauty Mother has created for us to enjoy.
Then in the winter time the lakes fill with little fishing houses and cars and booze & snowmobiles and again, the great fishermen.
Its like Calgon take me away...LOL

Arty, here in northern Maine you can still find that serenity, occasionally. There is a small lake near the north entrance to Baxter State Park near here, called Scraggly Lake. There are some primitive campsites provided along the shore, and it was while tenting there twenty two years ago that I first heard the laughter of the loons. Their primordial cries kept me awake and fascinated for hours. That was when I knew that it was time for me to pull up stakes and leave the more populated area where I lived at the time. Sadly, as with everywhere else, the Jet-ski and booze set is slowly taking over, even in some of the remote areas. There is still a magical stillness to be found in the great north woods though, you just have to look a little harder for it.
