(KSDK) - A woman whose job was to take care of animals has now been charged with animal abuse.
Georgia Wilson, 43, of Maryville, Ill., a veterinarian at Webster Groves Animal Hospital, has been charged with seven counts of animal abuse and three counts of violating owner's responsibility. The seven counts of abuse involve dogs; the three counts of violating responsibility involve horses.

Prosecutors there say seven dogs were found abused on her property. Three of those dogs were dead.
Police were called to the property after a horse escaped. When the horse was returned to the property, police say they found three horses in poor condition and four living dogs in poor condition.
Police say all of the animals were malnourished and dehydrated. The kennels were overgrown with weeds, and larvae were found in the horses' water, police say.
Prosecutors say Wilson went on vacation on July 26, leaving her daughter to care for the animals. Police say the daughter did not adequately care for the animals, and charges are being considered against her. Police say they discovered the abuse and neglect on Aug. 4.
Police say the poor conditions existed before Wilson went on vacation, and were part of the normal operations on the property.
Webster Groves police took Wilson into custody after the animals were found. Her bond was set at $100,000.
