Special rescue missions go out for pets

Joe Barger is reunited with Winston his Green-winged Macaw at the temporary boat launch set up by emergency workers at First Ave W and 10th Street Cedar Rapids on the afternoon of Friday, June 13, 2008. The macaw was rescued from Third Ave SW by an animal rescue boat manned by members of the Humane Society of Missouri from St. Louis. Cedar Rapids police and fire departments were coordinating the groups rescue of numerous stranded pets in the flooded neighborhoods.

Oh my! This reminds me of what happened to so many pets during/after Charlie.

I don't think I could have left Ruby there. She would have to sneak in the boat under my shirt! I am thankful they got all those poor, scared, dears out!
