Default Macaw reunion sealed with a kiss

This was the moment when a Telford man was reunited with his beloved parrot after a 16-hour double-rescue which left both of them stranded up the same tree.

Peter Dawson watched as his brightly coloured macaw, Banjo, flew away and perched high up in an oak tree at Wrekin College in Wellington at 6pm yesterday.

After trying to coax her down for nearly four hours, Peter decided he would have to use a ladder to climb up to her. But after he got seven metres up the tree, his ladder fell and left him stranded.

It must seem pretty silly to many who don't own big birds - to think the bird was 'fixed' to the tree & unable to get down. Guess he'll be training more after that episode.

It was heartwarming to hear of the generosity - that was an expensive cherry picker. They must have been frantic leaving the bird in the tree over night.

I wonder how many of the members here have had similar stories of Birdy in the tree but not coming down? If I had to rely on Laker's training to come I would be waiting a long time - he's easily distracted He might come if he got Millet withdrawal.
