Unhappy Lifeline parrot does a flier

PET parrot which sings cheerful songs to brighten up the life of its terminally-ill owner has gone missing.

Cancer sufferer Christine Rowson, 61, has been left devastated after African Grey Charlie flew out of her back door a month ago.

Charlie would regularly bring a smile to Christine's face by singing uplifting songs like Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

He also used to greet Christine, of Brynmore Drive, Hurdsfield, Macclesfield, with a chirpy `Hello' every morning and would ask `Are you all right sweetheart?' when she returned from hospital treatment.

The grandmother is desperate to find her pet, which was last seen in Kerridge, near Macclesfield.

She said: "Charlie keeps me going and this has really set me back - I don't know what will happen if he doesn't come back. He was my lifeline after chemotherapy and I can't tell you how much he means to me - please help me find him."

The four-year-old parrot, whose breed can live for up to 50 years, flew out of the door on March 12 and headed towards Buxton Road, Macclesfield. Charlie, who has a vocabulary of 200 words, has been seen by a group of builders on Buxton Road and Christine spotted him in a tree on nearby Black Road. But he was too scared by traffic to fly down to her.

The last sightings were at Endon Quarry, in Kerridge, last week, but the trail has gone cold.

Christine, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003, added: "I miss him so much. He cheers me up like no-one else can - please come home Charlie."

Charlie has a grey upper body and a red tail.

THE family are offering a reward for his safe return. If anyone has information about his whereabouts contact 01625 410729.
