What a tragedy. Prayers to all.

Arty, is there any word yet as to what caused this? Looking at the pictures of the structure supports and steel it just seems like it would be an impossibilty for this to happen. Is there any foul play suspected?

Its to soon for those kind of assesments, there still trying to get the bodies out of the river...
If you look at that bridge and the decay, one photo shows a great deal of rust near the pillars of support.
There's much pointing fingers right now, I can understand an earth quake bringing down such a bridge, but for one to simply fall is errie to say the least.
This will eventually fall back to the contractor whom built the bridge, and those that are responsable for inspecting these bridges and keeping an eye on the construction, the investigation proccess alone will be mind boggling..

This is heartbreaking......

We had a local news team investigate the dis-repair of many of large bridges in our area. It was alarming to see what all they're trying to cover up.

So very sad to see the lives lost and the families that will be devastated by this.

My god, this is so sad to see. I was in NYC for 911, these pics are very reminicient and scary to me. I look at them and I can smell NYC on the weeks followed 911. I know the fear and confusion that the people in those pics are feeling. Thank you for sharing them though, sometimes it takes seeing this things to remind us that people all over are just human and just like us or ones we love, we may not know them, but we feel for them.

What amazing, albeit horrifying, shots. I agree that they are reminiscent of 9-11. The only saving grace, however small, is that this did not happen in the winter. I hope the folks in Minnesota & Wisconsin know that we are behind them 100% in this difficult time.
