About Me
My name is Emily aka HyacinthLove. I am 27 (as of 7/26/07) and I currently reside in sunny Orlando, Florida. I live lakeside with my husband, our two dogs, and our two parrots; they are all the children we will ever need!! I love nature, animals, hiking, and the mountains.
I have been an artist all my life. I graduated Full Sail in 2000 with an Associates in Digital Media. I soon decided that web design really wasn't for me, and I became a self-taught sculptor in 2001. I've been addicted to sculpture since then, and did strictly freelance for 3 years.
Currently, I teach at Full Sail in the Computer Animation degree program. I work for a class called "Object Perspective" where students learn a traditional art foundation before jumping into the computer world. I specialize in sculpture; I really enjoy working with and inspiring students. Much of my teaching is "hands on" rather than lecturing, so it is quite enjoyable.
About My Birds
As far as birds go, I had my first bird when I was young, maybe 11 or 12. It was a Budgie named Tweeter. If anything, I think it made me never want a bird again! In 2001, a lot of my friends had cockatiels. They intrigued me a lot. Their warm and cheerful personalities really pulled me in. On September 11, Artemis came home with me. I've truly loved parrots and birds in general since then.
I never thought I could own a large parrot until I observed one of my best friends with her Blue & Gold. The relationship they shared together totally blew me away and I came to realize it was a world I belonged in. I'd admired Hyacinths for several years after holding one at Sarasota Jungle Gardens. I knew that was the bird for me. Ivy came home with me on November 3, 2007. My life is now complete
ParrotChatter
I love it here at ParrotChatter. I have been a member of numerous message boards, blogs, websites, and chatrooms in my 10+ years online, and this has by far been my favorite. I hope that I can inspire and help as many people as possible. I am very non-confrontational and friendly, so please feel free to ask me anything you'd like. I am proud and honored to serve you as a forum coordinator!
Much love!
