Default Green Peppers

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if the seeds in green peppers were ok to eat. I usually do clean the bell peppers and get rid of the seeds, but what about jalapeno peppers and such?

I'll tell you, I've cleaned out a few, and those bad boys are so hot I've actually burnt my eyes! So I'm wondering if I could just cut the tops off and give Ryan the whole thing.

Anyone?

Wendy, that would be just fine. Peppers are one of the vegetables that are recommended that you purchase organic also. The pesticides easily penetrate their thin skin so that washing does not get them off.

I hear that! I chopped up a bunch one day and my hands burned for hours, it was awful. I have since learned that washing your hands in milk will take the burn away.

Karen, the first time I cut them up I did wash my hands afterwards. All of a sudden though, it was in my eyes, my lips, my hands, and I had no idea why I was on fire, considering I did wash my hands! I've been more careful cutting them but still! I'll try the milk.

The seeds in all peppers are Ruby's favorite thing! Just watch out for those beak kisses after they have eaten them! LOL My lips have burned for hours afterward. Milk rubbed on my lips seems to help! I have planted a jalepeno plant just for Ruby!

Macaws especially seem to love those hot peppers! I often use those latex gloves when I am cutting up peppers. Too many times I have accidentally rubbed my eyes or something afterwards. Good to know about the milk.
