Default My first bird

Here is an old photo I found of my very first bird. Her name was Easter and she was so sweet. I had her in my teenage years. Don't you just love that pretty cage? Wish I still had it.

My first bird was Tweety, a yellow canary. Surprise? I was about 3 yrs old. Tweety had a cage on a stand which was too high for a toddler and a cat to reach.....

Back when I had my first bird it was black and white pictures only. And my parents would never waste a picture on an animal. Pictures were for very special occasions only. But I would love to have a picture of Ike.

That is so sweet - thanks for posting about her. It is great you have a photo.

The Budgie we had, lived in our kitchen on top of the fridge - not the best but the safest place, because of our cat. It's too bad we didn't know what we were doing. I was a teen too but at that time I was outdoors as much as I could be so the pets I interacted with had 4 legs & then there was our duck & the crow I had one summer. I don't have any photos of them either! Not much photojournalism back then - not in our house at any rate

My first bird was a yellow canary named Tweety. Must have been a popular name. Same cage and stand as I remember!

What a great pic Jess! Thanks for sharing!

I had budgies as a teen too, was scared of them. LOL No pics either. But their names were Mike and Jane after my two best friends at the time. Weird. I don't remember much about them, only everytime they flew around I was terrified. LOL....and look at me now! Ha!

I enjoyed reading your first memories! Thanks!
I also should tell you all that I have some feathers still from this little bird. I also have a toenail from my Boston terrier (dad had to pull it off and I remember her scream), and horse hair from my horses, a baby tooth from my yorkie puppy that fell out on my knee when she bit me. My brother calls it my crazy death box. I bet you all don't find this strange at all! ha!
