#1 | | | Driving to Florida Hi Everyone,
We (me, my husband and two daughters will be driving to Florida (from Texas) to visit my family. I cannot leave my babies with anyone nor can I have someone come in and watch them. I would be miserable an entire week without them so they are coming with us. My biggest concern is motion sickness. Dozy does get sick in the car; however the couple times she got sick she was out of her carrier. (I know, I know she sould not be out of the carrier while driving. I know there is no excuse - we were driving the neighborhood streets very carefully and it would not happen on this trip, I PROMISE!!).
I do not have a travel cage for Dozy and would need to buy one. I have a Nissan Pathfinder which will be carrying Dozy and our luggage. What brand/size travel cage would you recommend for both the drive and once we reach our destination?
Other than taking the necessities such as food/water/treats (for drive/duration of stay), ginger (for motion sickness, unless there is something better/easier to use) harness, first aid, towel/blanket, familiar toys.... What else should I take along?
Thanks for your help!

As for carriers, I recently bought a dog carrier for Ruby. Of course, I got the biggest so that macaw tail would fit, but you could buy smaller for Dozy. Mine is completely metal (see through) and I just fixed the perches, etc. to it. They are much cheaper than bird carriers and also collapsible. I bought mine at HEB grocery store for 50.00. Have Fun! and Be careful! | Was Max used to being in the car or he got used to it as you got further and further into the trip? Dozy has been in the car before but she's gotten motion sickness. That is the only thing I am worried about. |
