Default Bunny's Visit

OK - you guys are right - this is wonderful! She's so sweet & beautiful! I always knew a Grey would be wonderful - wait, is it barely a day into her visit!?

She is such a polite little girl. She isn't very big for a Grey. I'm pretty sure I've seen bigger. She takes her almonds so daintily. She stepped up very nicely first thing this morning & stayed out for about an hour & had breakfast with us - even worked her way down the cage &onto the dinning table to retrieve a nut from her bag, climbed back onto her cage & ate it.

I practiced some more step ups & let her be. Then I gave her another almond, asked her to step up & carefully put her back in her cage. She's on her swing right now whooping at my husband.

I'm going to drive you into a stupor with tons of photos!

The Majestic Grey on top of her cage.

Eating an almond.

Preening & more preening. You may be able to see that she plucked her chest this winter. Her owner's step-Mom was dying & the whole family was pretty stressed. They think she's stopped but the feathers haven't come back yet.

Now for the fun photos ...

Whats over there?

A little closer ......

Almost there ... hey they're documenting this!

I really wasn't doing anything.

Ahhhhhhhhh that feels good.

Prepare yourselves - never has there been a visit so well documented.

Theres no turning back now! How long is bunny there? You will miss her when she's gone home. They leave energy and spirit behind. Theres just something about a grey.

Bunny is here for about 10 days. Her owner comes back on the 22nd. I think I can handle it - if this works out maybe I'll see more of Bunny.

I'm very thankful that she's the perfect little lady. She trembles. I know she's a bit freaked but she's getting lots of space. I just made a pie & the cage is beside the kitchen. Every time she couldn't see me she walked to the end of her open cage door to peer around the corner.

Her owner didn't bring a cuttle bone or mineral block - should I go get them? & obviously she's an almond addict. She's had 4 this morning - is that too much?

It sounds like things are going great. 10 days just isn't enough... trust me! Her curved feather is hilarious! I don't give Ollie cuttle bone or mineral block. Dakota has both, but Ollie has never shown any interest in either so I quit offering them to her. I don't give Ollie more than like 5-7 almonds per day. Some days she'll get 1 or 2, and then on days we do tricks and such she'll get more. Probably an average of 3/day, but I don't know how many is too many...

What does your son think of Bunny? I remember you saying he was afraid of the larger beaks?

She's back in her cage for a bit. She was out since around noon or before - kind of lost track of the time.

She has now had her 6th almond. I offered it & then she scuttled to the top of her cage as far from me as possible when I asked her to step up. Then she relented & into the cage she went with her almond. When I put her water bowl back in I made her nervous so she dropped her almond & gave me a pinch on my finger. I retrieved her almond & she took it nicely & let me put her food bowl back in without any reaction. I tried the 'excuse me' phrase. I hope she figures it out.

She trembles so. I took her 'on tour' of our living room & sat on the couch with her but I had to return her to the cage almost immediately cause I was worried she was too stressed.

I offered her some fresh carrot cubes - she tossed them! Very funny. Perhaps they were too cold? She loved the celery stalk I gave her - taken from the centre of the bunch with leaves still on. She had a grand old time tearing the leaves off & chewing up the stalk.

My son could barely look at her at breakfast. She really frightens him. I hope he gets over it. He did go & see her before he went out & was smiling watching her with her almond. He was against me getting the Budgies. He was really upset we weren't going to replace our old cat. When Laker showed him that he really wanted to be friends - Jack warmed up really fast. If Bunny can accept us all - its a lot for her to take in - maybe he'll relax & warm up to her.
