Well, some parrotlets can talk, but many just make birdie noises. If you have ever seen an Amazon a parrotlet is a 5" version of 1. They like to chew paper & shirts (Winkie does anyway). They tend to like a wide variety of foods - broccoli, corn kernels, peas, green beans, carrots, apple, oranges, & fresh leafy greens are good for chewing & rolling around in. Parrotlets LOVE seed & eat that first if it's in their cage.
Don't feed any p'let colored pellets - it's hard on their kidneys. I converted Winkie from colored to plain pellets, but it took a while.
They are extremely intelligent (as is any parrot) but they also learn things very quickly. Winkie taught himself how to get a head scratch after I first got him on his swing. He also learned how to make that swing go FAST! He is learning to "talk" in his own private jabber & can make kissie noises now.
