Default Who needs a watch dog when you have an Amazon!

I had a very interesting experience last night. When I got home from work, a woman that lives below me was knocking on my door. She was freaking out telling me that I had a leak and it was flooding her apartment. Well obviously I was not using any water because I was not home all day! However, I did go into her condo and it looked like my washing machine was going to fall thru her ceiling. But I wasn't using it!

Long story short, she didn't know what to do so she called the fire department who showed up at my door. I invite them in.

As soon as they walked in and Ryan saw them, he completely freaked out, flew off his tree and landed right in front of them with his wings wide open like a bald eagle and screamed: RRRAAAAHHHHH!!! RRAAAAHHH!

One guy jumped back and said "Holy Sh**! That's a big f%%%*** bird! They were scared!

I picked Ryan up and he was still screaming at them. He was pissed! I do believe that little devil was protecting me. The uniforms those guys were wearing, the helmuts and all, were not welcome in my condo! Kind of shocking as Ryan loves everybody.

Unfortunately for me though, because I do have a thing for firemen, helmuts and all, Ryan does not. Guess I can mark them of my list!

Anyway, the leak was not coming from me. It was my neighbor. Unreal!

The leak was coming from the condo next door to mine. I kept telling the woman it's not my leak! So buy 10:00 last night the idiots finally figured out the leak was in fact coming from my neighbor! This is after they pulled out my washing machine, my dishwasher and everything I had under the sink.

Wendy, you will want to keep an eye on this situation. Since its just below you, your place could be affected by any mold that may occur if the leak is not fixed proper. Hopefully the condo association will be involved in this see if dry wall has to come out in her unit. If the leak was that bad I would assume dry wall should come off the ceiling, let the area dry, and replace it. Its scary living attached to another dwelling.

But hey, I had hoped you would say the firemen were really cute and swept you off your feet and you fell in love and got married!

Me too Leigh, me too! One of them was really cute, but Ryan scared him away.

OK, I did not think of mold. The dry wall was falling off her ceiling. GREAT!

I will call the condo association myself today to make sure they follow up on this. It is scary living attached to people. Is there anything else I could do though? Is there a way I can keep the mold out?

We had a flood last year so Im all over mold! Since you personally cant monitor whats going on below you, the association should since no resident owns what is behind the drywall. She is better off the the drywall was falling off. This will ensure that it will be replaced. The key is fixing the leak and letting it all dry before drywall is replaced. If mold should occur and spread, you will smell it. If it has traveled under your sublfloor and you have carpet, it will begin to feel mushy and stinky. You will see a weird substance and discoloration appear If it gets behind your walls, you will see it. The scary thing is, it could go through the entire complex if not handled properly. With it being spring and mold is in the air anyway, Id be all over it. She should live with that ceiling open for a little while. Theres not much you can do but follow up since its not from your unit. If you are on good terms with them, talk to them about mold and freak them out a bit so they dont just close it up and forget about it. I hate to worry you with this. Theres a house next door to me for sale so you should just move down here!

HAH! You know, I have been looking into houses! And I've actually been thinking about moving a little south as I cannot afford anything in Bergen County. It's ridiculous here. So you never know Leigh!

OK well I'm on good terms with these people and I'll check on them today. I will take your advice and scare them a bit. I'm sooo glad you pointed this out to me. I don't think about these things!

I will not have mold in my condo. I will kick butt before I do!
