Love sees beyond the differences.

Rainbow has lost the ability to clutch well with her feet. She was being bullied in the cage, so she has been housed by herself for quite a while. Otherwise, she is happy and healthy; she does well on shelves and edges, and will support herself with her beak when she needs to do so. When I moved the budgies to the aviary, I decided to try her with the flock again, because she loves to fly. Well, Rainbow found a boyfriend - - Basil follows her around the flight, runs off anyone who tries to bother her and is never far from her side! With his support, she is doing well in the flight and enjoying it as much as the rest of the "family".

Here is Rowan, my Scarlet Macaw girl. She is missing one toe on the back of each foot, but as you can see, it doesn't stop her from "helping" Z with one of his leatherworking projects :-). What a sweet baby girl she is!

This is Ladybird. She was a refugee from Port Charlotte, FL when she was rescued with 40+ other tiels from the aftermath Hurricane Charley. One of her feet was crushed but not broken when she was blown into the trees. After almost 4 yrs, and various size, shape and textured perches for physical therapy, her grasp is somewhat stronger. Last year, she had a cancerous tumor removed from her wing and lost 1/2 of one wing. Nothing stops her-she is most definitely the Queen of the Roost where both the boy tiels are concerned.

This is Cricket ..she is 8 yrs and is a Sever Macaw
She is DEAF..
But I think her biggest problem is she thinks
she is a cat..

Here is Hope one of my Scarlet Macaws.For those that don't know Hope is blind.When she came home she was mostly naked from an infection on her body,but you can see she grew most of her feathers back.

Here's Calipso, she's a Red Lored Amazon.When she came home she has over 40 broken bones in her little body.One wing was too damaged to heal or be repaired , so it had to be amputated. She also is missing parts of 4 toes and has bad hips. After all life has put her through she is still one of the sweetest birds and is one that always is willing to cuddle with Mom.

This is Beakie, a goffins. When she was about 6 weeks old an Eclectus in a pet shop bite her beak and broke it 99.9% off. We had to have it removed the rest of the way. Within hours she was eating normally and can even bite (

) She is a super bird, she is 12 yrs old now and talks up a storm.

ok, lets see who else I should add....... LOL. This is Norman. He is almost 20. He was hatched in an incubator gone bad....... The temp soared, dried out the egg and he stuck to the shell... He doesn't ALWAYS look that way, just when he wants attention.. LOL. Otherwise he looks like he has a stiff neck, you know, like when you sleep in front of drafty window...
