Default Cockatiels in the wild

BrokenWing Chronicles
Cockatiels in the wild

We do our best to provide our Tiels the same environment, the same feed, as they would endure in the wild, Zoo’s also do this, they try there best to duplicate the animals natural habitat, they have found that by doing this will help the animal better to adapt in there new environment, the environment of being “controlled”.

Cockatiels Information and Care, covers a variety of issues including Sexing your Tiel.

The charm of Cockatiels
Wild cockatiels are ground feeders and normally feed on seeds, grasses, leaves and bark (from trees, bushes, and other vegetation). Additionally, cockatiels will eat grubs and different insects.

Excessive Egg Laying (chronic egg layers)
http://www.cockatiels.org/articles/b...ol_pt4of4.html

Animals are gifts from God. We should treasure them and not exploit them. They are living creatures and they should be treated like that. No matter your religion, they're precious to all of us.

Chronic Egg Laying.
First a definition of Chronic Egg Laying, when the eggs do not stop being laid, a standard clutch is 2-8 eggs.
If you have a Tiel that is a chronic egg layer, it will be important to understand that this condition is very un-healthy for your bird, we have several chronic egg layers here, this was the reason there human discarded them.
Here is what we done to control the egg laying.

Temperature, we moved our females down into our basement aviary, cooler temps have been proven to help aid in this situation.
Stimulation, even being close to a Male Tiel but yet in a separate cage will stimulate the female, there chirp and or call alone will stimulate the female, moving our females away from the males has also proven to be vital.
The removal of all items that can stimulate, such as (those cute little huts),
Any and all rope perches with frill.
Human touch, never stroke your bird the full length of there body, limit the touch to the head and shoulder area.
Re-gurgitation, if your birds begins to regurgitate, a stern “NO” and put your bird back into his/her cage, and understand this question, “are you showing too much affection towards your bird?”
Calcium, Please avoid Cuttle Bone, it is known to splinter and can pose a threat to your birds (all birds), Please provide a calcium enriched Mineral block.

BrokenWing Aviaries wishes you a very happy rewarding relationship with your Cockatiel.

When we get a new car (the old one wouldn't make it) I want to go into the outback and see wild cockatiels.

Vacation?????
Whats that?...LOL
Haven't been on a vacation in over 15 years.
We simply have to many little ones here, My wife is able to get away each year, I am okay with this.
Some folks pay big money to experience and enjoy what I see everyday here in our home.
I would worry to much while away from our kids, this would ruin our time away.
There is one issue concerning Rescue that kinda sets me back, The Cost, rescue is hard on ones pocket book, I am currently very much in debt, the winter months allow me to catch up SOME, but the spring time seems to set me back again...LOL
