Talking Our new dog Molly

Yes, we adopted Molly this past weekend and this is her 3rd day home. If you missed the first thread, you can read a little about her here:

http://www.parrotchatter.com/f20/i-m...rets-9184.html

She's getting more settled with each day. Her first night was kind of rough - very restless and nervous. But last night she slept well and she is a little happier with each day. She and Riley have been getting along well so far. For the first 2 days Molly was sometimes irritable when Riley would come up too close to her. But today she has been great with Riley - I attributed the irritableness mainly to nerves, all the changes, and lack of sleep.

Yesterday we took the dogs for a long walk and a car ride to the pet store and those activities went very well. Molly seems to enjoy her new very large back yard too, and she and Riley follow each other around when outside.

I have today and tomorrow off work to help her adjust, Dave is taking Wednesday off, and my mother in law will look in on the dogs once or twice during the day once we both return to work. Today I'm going to start leaving for short periods to see how she does when we're gone - at least one of us has been with her since she's been here so we need to start getting her used to our schedule. And tomorrow we have a vet appointment.

Here she is in her new - and LAST - home!

Those are great shots Sarah. She's very handsome. She does look worn out - lounging on everything. I'm glad to here they get along. How about the B/W cat?

Have you thought of getting her a coat?
I once had a Dob & they can be similar in build & body hair to the Weimaraner. (unfortunately for you I had named her Sarah - my favourite name) One cold day I put one of my turtlenecks on her & pinned it around the tummy area. She loved it & looked very stylish. I then got into making her coats & knitting them as well. Now they have them at lots of stores. On cold days, my Dob would not go outside without hers, she'd look at us like we were nuts & wait patiently for the coat.

Enjoy

Yes, Molly's been very worn out with all of the new changes. But today she's been her perkiest - earlier I put her and Riley outside for a bit and when she came back in she was energized and invigorated and she even ran to the toy basket and bounded around with a toy! That was the first that she's played in our house and I was so happy to see her more light hearted.

I left the house earlier for the first time - was gone about 1.5 hours. She punished me for leaving - she got into the kitchen garbage and spread it all around the kitchen. Luckily there wasn't much in there but we didn't think she'd be able to get into it as it's a big stainless steel thing and you have to step on it for the two heavy "trap doors" on top to open it. She had it on its side with the bag and all of the contents strewn on the floor She also got into her food which was closed in a cabinet - Dave has since put a lock on the cabinet to Molly-proof it

Boston the cat is doing fine with her so far. The other two cats are staying hidden for most of the day, but they're starting to come out more and more. Boston has been sniffed by Molly a few times and he wasn't too upset - he's been more upset about the lack of attention he's receiving since he's been lounging in the bedroom more than the living room. He's not afraid to come out though. Molly could care less about the cats at this point.

We don't have a coat for her now - if it gets colder we may have to look into that. Riley has a sweatshirt for when it's really cold.

Aww, congratulations Sarah. Molly looks great, and I'm glad to hear she's settling in. It's tough moving into a new home, but it looks like she's already figuring out that she is now "in high clover" with you guys!
