Default the flu. ..

So the first and only time I get a flu shot I actually get the flu. Kinda strange don't you think?

My boyfriend and i were both in the ER all day yesterday. Thought we were dieing. (fever of 105) They thought I had pneumonia but luckily we just have an extremely bad case of the flu. they put me on cough med with codeine, vicodin, and tamiflu.

Now I no the common cold can't be passed from mammal to bird. but what about the influenza virus? Gracie seems so sad right now. I think she knows we're both really sick. And I never keep her in her cage when we're at home. So she knows something is up.

Well let me know what you guys think. I need to go pass out now.

Kris, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I was just reading an article the other day about the flu shots not working this season. I don't believe you can pass this along to Gracie. Get some rest and plenty of fluids when you can. {{{{Hugs}}}}}

I have read these figures elsewere, but a quick search revealed this quote, from Homeopathy and the Flu:
Quote:
A report to the American Institute of Homeopathy in 1921 documented the dramatic success of homeopathy in the worst flu pandemic in history. The death rate of 24,000 flu cases under conventional medical care in that study was 28.2 percent, while the death rate of 26,000 cases treated with homeopathy was a nearly miraculous 1.05 percent.
If you google "homeopathy and flu" you find a wealth of information. In my experience, I have found that when it comes to an entrenched bacterial infection, there is nothing like antibiotic. When it comes to viral, there are better alternatives, and homeopathy is a very viable option.

And there is a book, The Homeopathic Treatment of Influenza - Special Bird Flu Edition: Surviving Influenza Epidemics And Pandemics Past, Present, And Future With Homeopathy (Paperback) by Sandra J. Perko, that has been well reviewed, one that is on my short list of next books to read.

We are so sorry Kris! Wish we could keep Gracie a day or two for you. She is probably very worried about you. Get better soon - I know the flu is TOUGH! Here is some chicken soup! (pretend!)

You can't get the flu from the dead virus in the shot, but there are several strains this year, not in the shot. They mutated. JOY. We are washing our hands and hoping for the best. I get the shot each year. I have Chronic Fatigue and I can't afford to get it. I have had the shots for years and only had the flu before I got the shots, so they sure work for me. Just hope the new strains don't look for me.

I hope you are better very soon! Lots of flu and pnuemonia around. Be careful.

I just found it really ironic that I've never had the flu in my life. But the year I actually get a flu shot I get it. Come on. . . it's actually pretty funny. Well hey at least I can laugh a little about that aspect. (or maybe that's the vicodin talking. lol)

I am a big believer in the flu shot.
I heard on the t.v. today the shot they gave this year is not for this present strain. Hopefully, I won't get it.
Hope you feel better soon.
