Re: Question about dietary requirements I'm no expert, that's for sure. However, I can tell you what I feed Ollie. At her last annual vet visit she had a full set of tests done and everything came back at the appropriate levels. She is on a pellet based diet- at least 80% pellets (Zupreem). She gets 1 Lafeber's avicake and 2 Lafeber's nutriberries every morning. She also gets a bit of whatever fruit I have on hand. She gets an average of 5 whole almonds daily. For dinner she usually gets a little of whatever I'm having, as long as it's okay for her. I keep a pasta/bean/veggie mix in the freezer at nearly all times, but I'm not sure why. I've never been able to get her to eat it. She gets hard boiled egg with the shell once or twice a month.
Things she'll eat occasionally, raw carrots, snap peas, kale, mustard greens, red peppers, broccoli, cooked sweet potato. I'm sure I'm forgetting things. She's very picky though.
Greys are prone to low calcium levels, but you should never supplement unless told to by your avian vet after running blood tests. Too much calcium is a bad thing. |
