Default Camille..

I think you mentioned a while ago having a travel cage for Ollie. I've been looking for one and can't seem to find something decent for Ryan. I'm pretty sure these two are the same size. So what do you use for a travel cage? I want something that would be good for just an over night visit, maybe 2 nights.

What do you think?

Wow, I guess this is the best photo of have of it online right now:

You can't see much of it, I'll try to get a better picture posted by tomorrow.

Basically it is a cage that the pet store was selling as a "tiel cage." Way too small for that, IMO, but whatcha gonna do... I'm away from home right now, but I believe the dimensions are 18x18xlike 24 tall...I'll have to measure that too. I took out the small plastic food dishes it came with and wired the small food doors shut. I put in my own acrylic crocks. This cage is perfect for traveling. It fits well in vehicles, and is large enough for her to stay comfortably for several days to a week. The longest she's been in it has been like 3.5 weeks, due to the ice storm/no power drama this winter.

Hope this helps!

I guess it's sort of like this one on the left. I still have the factory sticker on it, so I'll see who makes it and get a better picture as soon as I can.

Camille, this is perfect! Thank you!! I was thinking of something like this but I wasn't sure if would work. This definitely does help me. I'll head over to Petsmart or something today. I'm relieved as I thought I would be spending 100's of dollars on another cage just for traveling!

Thank you so much! And you know, Ollie is just so freaking cute!

I forgot to mention the price! Yeah, a lot of those fancy actually made for travelling cages are pretty pricey. This small bird cage works just as well, and Ollie's cost me about $60.

Let me know what you find!

Camille, thanks so much for your help with the travel cage. I ended up getting one from pet smart. I spent 100 bucks but it's actually considered a starter cage for medium sized parrots. It's pretty sturdy too, decent size. The others were very flimsy. But I would definitely feel comfortable leaving Ryan in it for a few days if I had to. I'll take some pics over the weekend. I'm very happy with it!

But please don't ask me for the measurements. I have no clue. All I know is it's pretty big, but easy enough to travel with.

Thanks again Camille!

Yes, that was one thing I struggled with- finding a smaller cage with decently sturdy bars. Most were so weak that I was afraid one of her perches would pop the bars right off. Glad you found one!
