Default The Golden Pheasant

This is our male golden pheasant Bonapart. The golden pheasant is such a beautiful breed of pheasant, but around the world they are crossing them with other pheasant breeds in an attempt to make them more beautiflu but what they are really doing is destroying the breed. It has become very difficult to find a normal golden pheasant instead of a hybrid. I hope people see what they are doing and stop before they completely wipe out the breed.

We found Bonapart in a town market in a small cage. The owner said he kept them that way so that their feathers wouldn't get messed up of dirty. Bonapart and his two girls now live in our aviary outside in the sunshine.

Thats a very fine bird.
Thank you for sharing.
I sure wish you could find another pure breed and maybe breed for release, this may help to assure there survival.

Our two females are both purebred and we are hoping they will breed.

You will need to get your hands on a pure bred cock.
This thread could maybe be moved into the wildlife forum.
Good Luck!
