When it has a nice red patch on it slightly soft, at room temp, cut in chunks for them to hold it! Occy loves it.

This is when I need to have more than just the one bird so that most of an expensive fruit doesn't just go to waste... do yours not like it cold? Would it stay cut up in a tupperware for a few days? Are there seeds, and if so, can they eat them?

The seed is a big rock hard pit. Its not really easy to cut the fruit away from the variety we get up here. Peel the skin off and cut into the fruit until you feel the seed which is very very big. I make several long cuts down an sort of cut it away from the seed. It will hold refrigerated for several days. They like it better at room temp though. It will have to be put in plastic and refrigerated once the skin comes off. You could try cooking it too. Like a chutney mixed with some rice.

Thanks Leigh! I'm hoping the mango will help make up for the lack of pom...

It might take a few times but keep trying. If she doesnt take it by the 3rd attempt Id say she's not gonna! Occy will eat anything. But the other 3 only like it now and then. The redder the skin the better.

Camille, I had no clue what to do with mango either. I actually tried cutting it down the middle and couldn't figure out why the knife wouldn't go all the way through! It was the darn pit. Ryan loves it and I do keep it for a couple of days in tupperware.

Another good fruit is papaya. I cheat with that though and buy it already cut up.
