Default Update on foster parakeets..

Hi guys,

First, thank you so much for your suggestions, ideas and help yesterday. It made a huge difference for the 2 little foster babies.

I moved them closer to a wall, a little bit more out of the main room and they seemed to be happier there. They were chirping, singing and the little one stopped breathing so heavy. It's a bit strange but they still seemed more relaxed when they knew my bird was around.

I did watch them eat, and they did seem to take turns. Believe it or not, the little one is bossy though. He will not be pushed out of the bowl, but will push the big one out. So I put in another bowl and it worked! They then took turns going from bowl to bowl. They were very active last night.

So thanks again you guys! I was so relieved to see them doing better last night.

The new owners are picking them up tomorrow. I also feel much better about handing them over now!

Arent budgies so sweet with that little chirp. I love their sounds. Ive yet to handle one that is tame enough to finger perch. Good for you Wendy! You did an awesome thing taking these babies.

Oh thanks Leigh! I was happy to do it. They really are cute and so tiny! I have never handled one either.

I'm glad that things are working out better with the new setup. Let us know how they settle into their new home when the new parronts pick them up.

And whenever you and Leigh get the chance to hold a tame budgie, or have one fly to you on its own accord, you'll be lovestruck that something so tiny can be so amazing

Me too! If I had these 2 little babies for a longer period of time, I would've attemted to train them. And then I may have added them to my flock!

Its wonderful to hear about a success like this.

I hope the new owner(s) will think to join us & we will hear more.

Thanks for being so caring - keep it up - any bird is lucky to have received your attention. I'm glad you got to see the greatness of the smaller birds. Perhaps you will meet some more.

There is no doubt about the special qualities of the larger birds. We who have small birds are often in awe & a little jealous some days. But I know what works for me. Maybe one day a larger bird will fit in with my family.
