Default Cataracts

Does anyone know of any supportive care or supplements to give for cataracts?

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner. I do not believe (although I may be wrong) there is anything that can be done.

Angel has cataracts which could be caused by age or a combination of age and poor care in his past life.

If you ever hear of anything Mary, let me know. My Kita has cataracts. I agree with you, they're definitely caused from a combination of poor care and age.

I had a teil with cataracts, and he did fine for many years. His story is in the never forgotten section. this was many years ago.

Here's a couple links with a little info on birds w/ cataracts

http://www.holisticbird.org/heal/cs4.htm

http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/petcolumns/s...cle.cfm?id=340

http://www.junglebirds.com/punkin.htm

If you google birds with cataracts you can probably come up with more.

Thanks Michelle! I have already spoken to my AV about surgery and she doesn't feel Macaws are good candidates for it. So I have been looking into some supportive care, to maybe slow down the process. Sounds like Holistic care may be the way to go for this.
