Default Caulk Question

I want to caulk around the glass on an older wooden window. Does anyone know what kind would be safe to use?

Gosh, that's a tough one Karen. I can't remember ever seeing a window caulking that didn't have silicone in it. If you have a hardware or home improvement center close by, you can drop in and have a look. Perhaps there is a child safe version of caulking out on the market. Perhaps some place like a Ace hardware might be a better place to look, they usually have more knowledgeable people there. If they don't have child safe caulk, they might can suggest something else that might work in it's place.

I'm assuming that your worry is over your birds chewing on it when you're not watching. If it's the fumes coming off of silicone caulking while it is curing, then they are dangerously toxic until fully cured.

This is my biggest concern. Thanks for the information. I don't want to take any chances. It's the last old window in the house that needs to be replaced. I think we'll just get by with it until spring.

Wise choice as you would need to run a fan to exhaust the fumes out the window. And I would let it cure for at least 24 hours before trusting it and that would be at 70 degrees or above.

Thank you JR. So those products with non-toxic- zero VOC rating will be completely safe?
