Default My dog, Riley

Recently we found a bunch of Riley's baby pictures, and since she was the cutest puppy EVER I thought I would post a bunch of pics of her then and now.

We adopted Riley when she was 8 weeks old. We believe she is a Beagle/Springer Spaniel mix, and she is now nearly 5 years old. She is an absolutely wonderful dog, I can't tell you how many times people remark at how well behaved and friendly she is. She is a VERY high energy dog and needs lots of play time, but she has many things that keep her busy including many doggie friends and a huge fenced in back yard. She's spoiled to the high heavens (who isn't in our house) and I couldn't ask for a better dog!! She's eternally HAPPY and just loves life.

Here she is at 8 weeks old - we take pictures of any babies next to a Cornflakes or Cheerios cereal box for size comparison

This was Riley's first true best friend, Maggie the boxer. Unfortunately Maggie passed away in 2007, but Riley still perks up whenever Maggie is mentioned - we all miss Maggie. Riley does have a new boxer friend named Lilly:

Here is Dave, Riley, and me on our Honeymoon - Riley was about 16 weeks old here:

Riley is around 1 or 2 years old here and she is pictured with her favorite kitty, Boston - they are truly best buds (yes, Boston is a Big Kitty)!

This was after Jerry came home so Riley is probably 2 and a half here:

This is from August of 2007, she's around 4 here:

That's my baby girl

Thanks! She is a great mix - her only downfall is that although she listens and behaves very well, if she's not leashed outdoors and she picks up a scent - her head goes down, ears and brain turn off, and she'll follow the scent and ignore you telling her to come back! The "hound" in her really kicks in We found her on Petfinder and initially the shelter thought she was more Springer so that's what she was advertised as. But as she grew up more and more we realized how much beagle she has in her We call her a Speagle!

Her temperament is outstanding though, she's incredibly sweet and happy ALL the time. We have made a point to socialize her well though, she plays with my inlaws' dogs almost daily and she has a few other doggie friends as well.

I understand the scent thing... Bella is a beagle mix also. She is so smart and trainable but when shes outside unleashed and you see that pointing thing they do, all bets are off.... Nothings getting through.

We didn't want to leave her alone as an itty bitty puppy when we went on our honeymoon so it was a done deal that she just HAD to come with us - and she had a blast. She ran and ran along the beaches and had so much fun.

She was wiped out when that cereal picture was taken, ready to fall over from playing (yet she still wouldn't sit still, she was a REAL wiggleworm!) - she looks wet there because Maggie the boxer was licking her and drooling because Maggie just loved any kind of babies.

She's so adorable Sarah. Puppy faces are 'too cute' but she has that same sweet face even as an adult.
