Default Overworked sunnies

I think I overworked my birdies today. At lunch time I gave them about 2foot of fig branch. They reduced the entire thing to tiny wood shavings by supper time. I think they enjoyed it. It has been a while since I last gave them fig, I guess it gets boring to mostly have mulberry to destroy. The budgies also worked on the project.

The IRN are still busy destroying a real large sun flower from yesterday. The suns said, no thanks when I offered the sunflower to them. It was the most amazing sunflower it had 21 heads on it. I have been watching it and trying to help it stand tall for about 2 months but unfortunately it became damaged when a tree was felled. The next best sunflower has 5 heads but is already falling over.

It is too tall already and not finished growing, I am thinking maybe 8ft fence spike but that means a big ladder and hammer use up high. Next season I am going to try grow some, these are all volunteer sunflowers from uneaten seed. When they grow as a crop they hold each other up.

It was the speed of the wittling that amazed me, they not usually so diligent about the task at hand. They get bored fairly quickly.
