Rio has rediscovered an old toy I made in September - I keep rotating them. This time I added it to their perch/gym. It's corn husks with rope.

it keeps him entertained. So far he hasn't tried to hang off it - just trying to control it.

It would be nice if I could give him a task - I think he's enjoy a project.

He has done a fine job getting all the bark off the perch, whittling the basket Sarah got him & also softening up all these pieces of Husk. Very Busy boy.

A lot busier than Laker. Laker is more interested in finding edibles.

Thats exatly what I was thinking. I have a special place in my heart for blue budgies. My first bird was a blue budgie. my first 3 actually were blue budgies.

What a great looking set up. Does Rio scout it all out or perch in one or tow areas. I purchase play gyms with lots of areas to play and they choose one area and leave the rest untouched with the exception of poop. LOL

I am somewhat proud of my first attempt at making a play gym for my guys.
Rio loves to sit in the center of the slingshot - more than Laker. But you can see in the calender they both use the whole thing. I also hang lots from it.

At first the gym wasn't attached to the base but 2 Budgies are heavier so i nailed it to the platform. It makes it harder to clean - & from the amount of poop on the base - they like to hang here most of the day. It is just outside the bedroom door & across the room from their cages so they get a good fly & take-off for going to other rooms.

In my son's room there's the lamp & hibiscus tree hang out & in the studio there's my chair, Christmas cactus & the reading lamp & desk - all wonderful Budgie play areas. & Yes I do a lot of tidying!

My guys seem to use multiple areas of their gyms too, like Laker and Rio. I usually scatter foot toys and sometimes treats on the various levels and in the small treat cups so I guess they're used to checking all over for the good stuff
