Default Lovebird Mimicry

Hi everyone.
I often make clicking and kissing noises to Darwin, and he listens to it and just takes it all in. However, yesterday morning, amid his usual repertoire of chirps and cheeps, I suddenly heard CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK SMOOCH. It sounded exactly like a person. He only did it once yesterday, so I wasn't sure if I was going crazy or not. However, this morning, he was doing it over and over again. I kept hearing loud kissing noises and clicks mixed in with his chirps- it was pretty funny.
Do any lovebird owners here have experience with lovebirds mimicing sounds? I thought they weren't able to.

Lovebirds can be very good at picking up sounds,I have one lovie here who will say hello, then do kiss kiss kiss. they are much smarter then we realize ,and like any bird if you work with them they have the potential of learning many new things.

I've never had a lovebird, but I'm sure they're capable of mimicing. I also just wanted to say that it's wonderful to see some more lovebird people here recently, they are a species that I'd like to learn more about.

Thanks everyone!
I was just a bit surprised because I know that lovebirds are intelligent, but everything I have read says that they can't talk or mimic.

Any bird with a hook bill can talk if s/he chooses to. Often with the smaller birds it is difficult to hear them because they talk outside our hearing range. With smaller bird it is easier to record them and slow the recording for us to be able to hear what they say.

Aw, how sweet. I am sure that really warmed your heart! I hope that Hannah and I can "communicate" when she's old enough.
I love it when they respond to us!
