many thanks to beatriz cazeneuve for her
awesome "gloop" recipe. i did some shopping at
Barry Farm Foods - Your Unique Resource for Organic and Unusual Groceries and ended up with this.
each is a one pound bag. i list all the ingredients i used below. they are all organic and happy
first we have 1/2 cup of the wild rice/brown rice bix and about 1/8 a cup of red lentils.
next we have 1/4 cup of each of these :
Kamut
Triticale
Soft White Wheat Berries
Spelt
Buckwheat
Hard Red Spring Wheat Berries
Barley
Oats (Whole Groats)
might i add, this hardly made a dent in each bag. i was actually worried at first that this wouldn't make much. i was so wrong lol.
The rice and lentils are cooked for 20 minutes. I cooked the grains in a separate pot for 20 minutes as well. Next time, I will cook the grains closer to 30 minutes I think.
1/4 cup each of :
Whole Grain Pasta Elbows
Golden Flax Seed
Amaranth
This is added to the rice/lentil mixture, stirred in, covered, and then let to cool.
All is mixed together to form a quite tasty meal! This is one of those long ziploc tupperwares, I am guessing maybe 6-8 cups of food? This goes great with cinnamon and fresh bananas, but you can mix in any spices/fruits/veggies you want! I keep it refrigerated and heat some up in the microwave each day.
I've been eating this in the mornings with ivy. I love it! But so far, she is like "uhhhhhh NO!" I hope I can get her to like it, it's super healthy and I have a TON of it left to cook
I think I paid around $70 total for all the stuff (i also got 2 bags of unsulfered banana chips, a few pounds of whole wheat veggie rotini, and some unsulfured fruit mix). it's a LOT of food! and it makes even more when it's cooked. Barry Farm is an amazing place with amazing prices. They were a bit slow to ship, but the quality is well worth the wait! Even if I can't get Ivy interested, I will be back to shop for myself!
