Default They desperately need your help!

It is sooo bitter here, I stood in the doorway and watched the little animals outside come to eat the seed and nuts I had spread out for them when getting home from work.
Here I stood in a nice warm home with my Sammy on my shoulder (TAG) as we watched the little one's eat.
Sammy and I watched as Morning Doves, Sparrows, Squirrels, Crows and other little ones scrambled to get as much as they could from there every morning feedings, Sammy tilted his head as he watched them.
"they are struggling right now", I said to Sammy as he peered out the window.
Then Sammy says "I love you" and a tear fell..........

They need you so badly right now, all of you!
Please.....if you have time...Please stop in your local pet shop and grab a bag of wild bird seed, they are starving......
As natural resources dwindle down to nothing "there is nothing" as sad to know there is a little one out in the bitter cold with a empty tummy, huddled up on a tree branch with no leaves to stop the bitter wind as there little eyes search for anything....anything that might be something to eat...anything that might help them survive "just one more day".
Please....find it within your kind heart to help the little ones that can't help themselfs.
They are out there right now...THEY NEED YOU!....in the most profound way..
Your kindness, your caring ways will help them more than you can imagine.
A handful of seed...a simple handful of seed.
Please....won't you please help them.

I have a huge supply of three types of wild bird feed.
I have four bird feeders and three bird baths.

It is a lot worse for the little guys up north in the cold.
Don't forget to sprinkle the ground with seed for the ground feeders as well.
If you find it hard to keep water from freezing, try a fountain...moving water won't freeze as quickly.

Ruby and I feed maybe 100+ birdies each day. And my flock of ducks on the lake know to come and honk for their daily loaf of wheat bread! ha! We also keep plenty of fresh water out for them. I've read that more birds die of lack of water than lack of food.

Thanks Arty for the reminder for our members to not forget the birdies outside in the winter.

We also provide here. I am going to get a few more feeders set up tomorrow though. I don't think I've mentioned this before but we have a white pigeon that has joined the flock of mourning doves. I'll get a picture for you all to see. Needless to say he's very noticeable lined up with his darker brothers and sisters!

I apologize, I hurt sooo badly from them this time of year.
Bird seed is selling like crazy at work, so it seems many are reaching out to help.
It never hurts to plea.
Sammy and I watch the wildlife as often as we can, sometimes he says things just at the right moment and his words are very touching.
Friends and family members know me all to well, I have 4 new bird houses to put up this spring, all gifts...
The Pigeons don't care to much for the corn in there mix, or the peas, seems there tray always has these 2 items left over, so 2 times a week I spread whats left over outside and its all gone that day.

I have 2 bird feeders on my patio. I try to always keep them full, especially during the winter. I went to my apartment this afternoon to pack more clothes (still no power), and out on the patio were about 20 birds. Some on the feeders, some on top of the patio table eating the fallen and scattered seed, and others on the ground feasting. I love that so many of them now know where to find some food.

I know it could be considered "a drop in the bucket". I mean here we sit, surrounded by miles and miles of woods, and I'm sure most of the birds and squirrels living there will make it through the winter just fine. Still, its a good feeling to watch the ones who visit our feeders. They always seem hungry and eager for a meal, and it must make quite a difference for them, to face the coming sub-zero night with a full belly to fight off the cold.

Our wild birds face many challenges today, from climate change to habitat destruction in their home and breeding ranges. We can at least help get some of them through the winter, and get them through in better shape than they would be in without the help. Just imagine what it must be like to see the sun going down, feeling the temperature drop, and knowing there will be 12 to 15 long hours of darkness and cold before you're able to search for more food.
