Default Hanging Gym vs Playstand

Im thinking about a one or the other from Wayne. Who has Waynes playstands or hanging gyms? Which is more recommended? Have you had to replace any parts yet?

I have play stands but have been thinking about a hanging one as well. Not sure if hubby would want holes in our brand new ceilings though.

OK, this has been killing me. WHO IS WAYNE?

Leigh, who is this Wayne guy? I've read your posts but for the life of me, I can't figure it out!

I probably sound like a dope now, but I must know!

Its ok. I always thought the same thing when I saw his playstands mentioned in post. Its Waynes Bottlebrush Playstands. Heres the link to the homepage which carries a link to his online store.
Home Page. Waynesparrotstuff.com. Change your parrots life TODAY with Bottlebrush in-cage perches and toys.

Read about the bottlebrush wood here. I have Java, Manzanita, dragon wood, ribbon wood. Now Im waiting on my first order of perches from Wayne who seems to be one heck of a nice guy. I emailed him with questions and he was back to me in a zip. Im hoping my stuff will be here today so I can make Occy his Hatchday toy. If I like the perches I will order either a stand or gym soIm looking for suggestions from those who have them specifically from him!

Well I'm glad I made you laugh! I was laughing. I couldn't take it!

Well Wayne looks interesting. I never heard of bottlebrush wood. I only have Java. But this definitely looks like something to try out. I love the play gyms he has. I've been looking for a new one, but I'm not finding anything that I'm crazy about. I want something different. This might be the way to go.

Is there anyone in here that has one of his gyms?

Thanks Leigh!

I have two of his play stands. I love them, the birds prefer bottlebrush perches everywhere! With my birds demeanor I felt I didn't have a choice between the play stand or hanging gym. They want a sturdy perch, it took Kita a year and a half to get on a boing and Kady would never leave something sturdy for something that moves.

I feel the downside of the playstands is the floor space they take up whether the birds are on them or not. I view the play stands as being optimal for the older more reserved birds.

For a bird that is a daredevil and climbs all around and loves to hang upside down I think the hanging gym would be perfect!

Ollie has a hanging gym and she loves it! It's in storage right now because I simply don't have the space for the big poopy tray under it. Wayne himself I believe recommends the hanging gyms. At least he recommended them to me. Birds like to be high. Ollie loves the natural sway of it, it's like being in a tree I imagine.

Wayne also said that the tray that comes with the playstand is a big temptation for most birds, who will go down and play in it, then poop off the side.

Hmm..good stuff here. I think I'll start with the perches. I don't have a dare devil and I'm not sure I want to give up more floor space. Not yet anyway.
