Hello! I just posted my intro, but this is the good stuff I'm really here for! I'm active, too active lol, in another bird forum, but it seems I'm one of maybe 3 other macaw lovers there! I'm owned by two rescue macaws, as you can see in my sig

they are the love of my life and frankly I would die quite alot inside without them.
Summary of their stories:
Bud was rescued by myself after recieving a call that a GW was to be put to sleep for aggression issues, would I like to give it a shot. Being that I'm not opposed to scars I said yes...ABSOLUTELY. Bud had been abused by owner #1, although he learned an EXTENSIVE vocabulary in that home. He is phobic about brooms, raised hands, rolled newspaper, and being locked in his cage. He started to pluck so he was returned to the breeder who quickly dismissed his issues with "he needs to be a breeder bird" locked him in a cage and he plucked some more. One day while pinning him in the corner of the cage (he always wanted out and they used a 2X4 to keep him in the cage for cleaning and feeding) Bud grabbed this womans thumb and wouldn't let go. Broke it in three places and ripped her nail off. Well now he is my baby, and has never offered to bite not once. It has been 2 years and we are still trying to overcome some feather destruction when he gets anxious, but I am proud to say he is 99% feathered

Bud does begin feather picking immediately if he is locked in a cage, or if I am away for longer than over night. I tried to board him one time, and recieved a call 24 hours later that I had to come get him or he was going off to the vet...apparently Bud has chosen me and my partner and that is all, he exhibits very aggressive behavior with anyone else. Wow, that was a long summary I'll make Whitney's shorter!
Whitney is 18 years old, and has only been in my life a few months. When she turned 8, her 18 year old owner (who recieved Whit as a birthday gift for her 10th b-day) moved away to college. This left Whitney all alone in a non-bird family for 10 years. She was locked in her cage given only shoe strings as toys when her owner came home for holidays. Obviously Whitney developed some serious feather destruction problems. Finally, her nearly 30 year old owner decided she couldn't stand to see Whit like this and turned her over to me. Whiney has already started getting pins in all along her chest and I expect a full recovery from the picking issues
WHEWWWWW! Sorry so long, but that's my story. I had no previous experience with macaws, but am now head over heals, just want to hear more about others antics. I'm sure I have questions, but I'll save those for a later post!
