Default Sweet ‘n’ Tasty Cooking Mix by Parrots on the Porch

I tried a new mix. It was very easy, smells and looks good.

Sweet ‘n’ Tasty Cooking Mix by Parrots on the Porch

INGREDIENTS

GRAINS/SEEDS: Brown Rice, Spelt, Barley, Triticale, Kamut, Wheat, Millet, Quinoa, Fenugreek, Sunflower.

ADD-INS: Bananas, Mango, Coconut, Brown Rice Noodles, Cashews, Orange Peel.

These mixes are a little different than your ordinary cooking mixes for parrots. They easily instruct you to germinate the seeds and grains to give the meals a nutritional boost! Germination is an organic process whereby the proteins, fats, and starches are broken down to a more useable, enzyme-rich form for a parrot's body to absorb. Germination also makes the seeds softer, requiring less cooking time.

Your Good Stuff™ cooking mix comes with two parts within the bag: 1) Grains and Seeds, and 2) Add-Ins.

Germinate your seeds that are in the package. Germination takes very little time, 8-12 hours total. Pour the seed/grain mix in a bowl, cover with water and let soak overnight.

It's simple! I did this over night and had little sprouts by morning.

After the germination process, rinse out the seed/grain mix and put in a saucepan. Add the contents of the Add-In packet.

This is not included with the mix but I also added 2oz. Dried Jalapeno dices, 2 oz. Dried red pepper, 4 oz, dried sweet potato and 4 oz. Dried broccoli dices.

Add fresh water to the mixture until it just covers it. Bring to a boil, turn down to simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.

I have a good 8 -10 cups of food.

I plan to add fresh vegetables to this base grain mix at the time of feeding.

Looks good. And, if you add veggies and seasonings to it, you will end up with gloop.

Oh, I use all kinds: cinammon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, cloves, paprika, chilli powder, curry, white and black pepper, crushed red pepper, oregano, rosemary, thyme, etc. I give them one day sweet gloop and the next day spicy and I have all kinds of different 'recipes' that I've developed: like 'Apple Pie' which has dried apple bits, apple sauce, currants, honey and cinammon; then there is the 'Eastern Delight' which has chopped dry dates and figs, honey, ginger and a bit of cinammon; or 'Pina Colada' with dried bits of pineapple, medium coarse unsweetened coconut and orange all fruit organic preserves. Or the 'Very Berry' with dried blackberries and/or raspberries and/or strawberries with raspberry all fruit organic preserve. For spicy examples, it could be the 'Pizza!' that has bits of sundried tomatoes, vegetarian pepperoni, black olives, minced garlic, oregano, paprika, and crushed red pepper; or the 'Chili con Carne' that has cooked crumbled veggie burger (not the soy one but the one made with vegetables), some pinto beans (not a lot, too high in protein), chopped celery, garlic and chili powder; or the 'Chinese take out' with chopped cooked broccoli and/or bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, sliced and sauteed vegetarian chicken nuggets and ginger and garlic; or the 'Brussels Sprout stew' with cooked and sliced Brussels sprouts, some organic tomato paste, garlic, paprika and black pepper. Just think of a people's dish and 'convert' it to a parrot dish. That's all.

Sally, you can get it at 'Parrots on the Porch' They carry some awesome blends. Kady absolutely loves their Birdie Bread mix the best out of the many I have tried.
