#1 | | | Ivy's Eating Progress a sorta food breakthrough today....
i have 2 dry mixes for ivy...one from avian naturals and one from parrots on the porch. up until today, i hadn't given her any of the avian naturals, mainly because it arrived after the PotP mix. normally, i soak some of her porch mix in water in the morning and serve it with fresh bananas and carrots. she seems to at least like playing with it. she will usually eat some banana with bits of the mix stuck to it and she likes to swipe her beak through the whole bowl.
i usually put some of the porch mix dry into a bowl with her pellets and she hasn't seemed interested. today i tried the avian naturals in her dry bowl instead and she was all over it! it was cute, i went over to her cage to see what she was munching on and she dropped what she had in her mouth and ran to perch in the center of the cage like "what? i wasn't doing anything?" she repeated this about 30 minutes later lol. i can't tell how much she ATE as there is some on the floor of her cage, but i am glad she was interested in it at least!! still not much interest in her harrison's, i can get her to munch on a pellet or 2 sometimes when i give it to her by hand.
also, i noticed at dinner time, she refuses to eat her fresh food until i give her mac nuts. as soon as she is done with the nuts, she digs into her sweet potato and banana....and sometimes other things if i am lucky!
haven't had to give her formula in a few weeks! her weight still needs to come up some, but at least she isn't losing any anymore! gettttting better! |

Sometimes I swear Ollie's food bowl looks untouched, but I weigh her at least once a week and her weight is always stable. Good news about the formula! Isn't that a great feeling when they stop wanting/needing it!! | they really do eat more than we think. and sometimes it's hard to remember how little they really "need". |
