well, it's been a while since i gave an actual status update sooooo....
at the beginning of the week, i woke up and said to myself "dang it! this girl is going to eat solid foods this week if it kills me!" so i sat down with her for breakfast that morning, and she actually ate a good bit of banana. she had stopped doing that for a while and reverted back to baby food. she has eaten solids every breakfast and dinner since then. sometimes a good bit less than i'd like her to, but it's a good start. we also have a new favorite, sweet potato. she really wasn't into it much before, but now she loves it!
i've been soaking her parrots on the porch mix in the morning and chop up some bananas and carrots into it. yesterday she went NUTS and was swiping her beak through the whole mix and taking mouthfuls and mashing it up. i am not sure if she actually ATE a whole lot of it, but it was so cool to see her doing that!
yesterday, i cleaned her cage and put up some new toys. i am happy that she goes RIGHT to new toys and starts playing. she just loves crunching up her wood. she also has a set of stainless mixing cups on a chain that she LOVES to bang into the side of the cage; it's hilarious!
overall she's started becoming less clingy. i can leave the room more often without her screaming, and she will stay on her playstand for longer periods of time. but she still wants her snuggles just as much as ever!
she has also started enjoying her showers a little bit more. she spreads her wings and flaps around under the water. i put her on the top edge of the shower "box" when i am showering, and she runs around on the rim and flaps her wings and screams. it's adorable haha. she launched herself into the mirror the other day and looked SO confused. thankfully she wasn't hurt at all.
my parents are coming this weekend, i can't wait for them to meet ivy. they refer to her as their granddaughter

ivy is SO shy about meeting new people, she will tuck her head into my arm. it's SO sweet. but then she warms up and will cuddle with anyone, so long as we move slowly.
i can't remember if i mentioned this before, but she eats and drinks out of the bowls in her cage now. it makes me MUCH less afraid to leave her alone for a few hours. she also comes in and out of the cage very easily, which is nice. the first few days, she fought going into the cage.
on monday, ivy will have been home for a month! it's so hard to believe! but she has settled in quite a bit in such a short amount of time.
life is good
