#1 | | | Harley Update For those of you that were not around chat last night, I'll give a short background here before I update so everyone is up to speed.
Yesterday...Maple and Harley had a little "tiff" over a toy...Maple bit Harley's tongue. He let out a dreadful scream, there was a lot of blood, and his tongue was VERY swollen. The bleeding stopped fast, and he was eating soft foods, drinking, and chatting up a storm as per normal. He was even looking for kisses. But I was very worried about the swelling, infection, and feeling like an overall rotten Mommy.
BigBlues and WingVictory (early on in the evening) helped me through this crisis with much wonderful advice and assurance that it would be OK. Later in the evening Jim was around and reassured me that these things happen and I'm not such a bad mom (as did Gary in a private message).
Anyway.....as requested, a morning update on his progress. We awoke to the normal Harley....bright eyed, happy and chatty. Kisses left and right. There is still some swelling there but it has gone down a good deal from last night. He has eaten a good bit of veggie mash. Not drinking as much as I'd like....but it could just be me worrying too much. He is playful and appears in good spirits, altho you can tell he is uncomfortable. He doesn't seem in an overly big amount of pain. His tongue is no longer red and there doesn't appear to be any sign of infection as of yet (keep your fingers crossed). You can see 3 little cuts clearly in there now, one on each side and one underneath. I will continue with all the pointers I received last night.
So, so far so good. Unfortunately this probably could not of been avoided. Fids bicker, these things are bound to happen I suppose. I am still feeling pretty rotten tho and wishing I could make my baby all better now. He seems to have forgiven Maple...he's a good baby. They spent some time together this morning, and I have noticed he's not allowing her to be so pushy anymore. I am watching them very closely when together and removing one if there is any sign at all that bickering may ensue. I don't want to separate them completely, he so enjoys his time with her and screams for her when she is not in sight.
Thank you again to those who helped.....you have no idea how much it was appreciated. We are not new at this...but this was a first and it was a scary one (being new multiple fid parronts). It was a long night last night of up and down checking on him....and I am still worried, but things are looking up. |

Harley just had some cuddle time with Daddy (his favorite person) and he's playing quietly now. |
