I just went out to look up in the tree for Abi in her spot and I saw some other huge bird where Abi perches. I scared it off with a rock and it flew off....I think if might be a Falcon? It had a HUGE wingspan! I hope it was not waiting for my Abi to return! YIKES! I will post a few pics of it.

He could be wrong....but Hubby (who is doing a falconry apprenticeship) says to him it looks like some kind of a hawk...but certainly a bird of prey.

Looks like a Red-Tail Hawk to me.

They look very similar to me. I agree that bird does look huge!

This bird or one like it has been circling over this yard by that tree for a couple of days now! I think I better trap Abi! What do you think Arty?
When I was letting my Mollucan perch atop his outdoor cage these birds were circling one day....over his cage! I do not put Miki out anymore because of them.

Thanx Karen, It had its head tucked when I first noticed it. I thought it was a huge owl.

I would definately try and trap Abi as that is definately a hawk of some sort. We have hawks around here also and unfortunately they often catch doves and pigeons. I understand that they have to eat too of course but it's so sad to go outside and just see a huge pile of feathers around.

That is definately a red tailed Hawk, deadly preditor.
Sadly you had no luck in catching Abi before, you can try other means if you know of any to try and catch him, but in Abi's current condition he will not be able to get away from the Hawk.
Lets all pray, this is not good, not good at all...

Thanx Arty, I did not see Abi since early this morning. He was up in that tree by that perch.
I think I might be able to catch Abi on that canopy. I will try to throw a sheet over him. He comes very close to me now.

Abi may not come around for awhile if he sees that hawk.
I pray you can catch him, I am praying very hard right now....

Arty? I scared that hawk off! Will he come back or is he gone from the area? Do you think he spotted Abi already? I do not know too much about them. I have seen a single one like that flying over here for a few days now.
Will try my best to catch Abi. I have to do it fast, I have six people coming from Jersey next week for 5 days.....Abi will be spooked until they leave. That means he will be up in that tree watching!
