Question Baby Toys for Birds

i was wondering how many of you buy select baby toys to give to your birds. ivy's playstand came with a toy made up of these hard plastic links :

Baby Einstein Links | Kids II | Walgreens

she is absolutely NUTS about them! i am going to target tomorrow to see if i can find some more!

what are your thoughts and experiences?

It seems like if it is safe for babies it should be okay. But who knows with all these recalls on toys made in China. I saw these were made in China. But is anything NOT made in China. I have the plain plastic links. I think they were Fisher Price and they seem to work fine for the birds.

Yes, Ollie gets toys from the Baby/Toddler section. Be careful with those links though- I've heard of birds getting their beak caught in the openings. Ollie only has those links outside of her cage so she's only around them when I'm home.

i know right? it's amazing how much is recalled these days. i suppose i will have to start paying attention to what baby toys are recalled, in addition to pet foods.

I get lots of baby toys from the thrift store but I only get the ones made out of wood, plastic or cloth, never metal, especially now with the China recalls.

The whole chins thing scares me! BTW most bird toy parts are made in china, and I doubt anybody is testing for lead in those parts.

My birds all love the plastic baby toys. The chain link are the best toys this week. If they damage one at least the entire chain is not damaged, so we just rejoin. The links I use are not hard plastic and totally rigid, they flexible in very strong hands. The very hard plastic sometimes shatters.
