Subject: Please help!!! Pigeons
Hello Arty,
My name is Meghan Coco and I work at a company called Schlumberger in
Lafayette, Louisiana. I need help placing Pigeons. Here is the
problem: In the back of the building there is a crane bay that is
open, so pigeons have made nest and live in the crane bay are. Well
due to people complaining about them our safety department needs to
get rid of them. They have tried some ways to try and make them leave
but they always come back. For example, they have tried putting an
Owl in the area that makes sounds to try and scare them away. Now
one of the men want to trap and kill them. He has given me two weeks
to try and come up with an alternate route. Please help me with
suggestions of what I can do. Either something to put out there to
make them go away or trap them and bring them some where. Please
excuse any incorrect grammar or anything I might have left out that
will help. I am in a hurry to try and find a better way. I am a huge
animal lover and do not want to see any animal hurt!!! My number is
337-230-4992 or please email me back. Thank you in advance for taking
the time to read this and help me.
Sincerely,
A desperate animal lover, Meghan
Hi Meghan
You will need to begin live trapping the birds, depending on how many there are this will take time.
Using a simple box trap with stick and string, here's a link to help you.
ptrap
When caught keep the birds safe, Pigeons rarely go more than five miles away from there birth place, to ensure there survival and assure they do not return to there former nesting spot, you will need to drive them 50 miles away, hopefully to a farm, even a grain silo somewhere is a good release point.
But the release area must be far from where they are roosting to assure they do not return.
I to am a animal lover, for over 18 years now, I have been helping the bird of Peace, better known as the Pigeon, I admire your kind intentions.
A box trap works very well, baited with wild bird seed.
Many people contact me with the same issue and many have had success with the box trap.
Good luck, let me know how it is going.
