thought id let you guys know I am thinking of getting a jandays conure in my local petshop... its 50/50 at the minute

i used to work at the shop till i couldnt put up with the owners antics with his animals.. this little guy was making progress when i left but since has rarely been let out .. went in the other day and my heart went out to him

so theres a reserved sign on him for the next couple of weeks till i make up my mind about this

he is about 3yrs old we went into the shop at about 18months old before that he was bought by a guy who didnt realise how loud they can be...he was hand raised but they put him out in the garage and the only interaction he got was at feeding time... he used to step up for me after a few months at the shop but hes gone back into himself now... looks terrified of everything and everyone.. im going up to him today for a little while so we will see how it go's

Oh, Jayne, 50/50 chane? Who are ya kidding? Congrats on the new baby, you big-hearted sucker! I cant wait to hear how he warms up and becomes a part of your family.....

That's so sad! Poor little guy! He'd have a great home with you Jayne.

angie i do not need him!! infact i don't need another bird at all!!!!!!! i just dont want to leave him there

i didnt get a chance to get into him today as my dog is fairly sick again but heres a few pics from the last few visits

and of course these ones shows his personality big time... these pics were taken about a year ago when i was still working a few days there





after causing enough mayhem he decided to open one of the display cages and have a nap


this is a pic of what his cage can look like... btw the new cage is worse as far as not cleaning the bottom is concerned tho at least now hes got 1 toy

They housed him with guinea pigs and rabbits?? Or did he find his own way into their cages. I hope he's with other birds now - and like you said, at least he has a toy now.

I can imagine him going to play with bunnies & guinea pigs, conures do that. It looks like bunny food on the bottom of the cage - dirty bunny food. I think you need to save him, his voice is not so bad since you live with loud birds.

oh no no... he can open cages and he decided to go in and investigate... hes a bit bit of a nut case.... so he should do well here!
