Default Paint

We're just now putting the finishing touches on some remodeling by painting. I wanted to be careful about any fumes so I decided to purchase the Olympic '0' VOC paint. This paint was the worst stuff to work with. I felt like I was fighting with it to stay on the walls. It took 3 coats to get coverage and then to boot, it smelled. Granted it wasn't a terrible smell, but it still worried me. I was so glad when we were finally done...that was until there was a spot on the wall. I then found out this stuff is not washable! Well not washable if you still want the paint on the wall. It's about as durable as dried chalk.

We purchased more paint today and began painting again. This time I purchased the Dutch Boy Children's paint. What a huge difference! It went on well, there was NO smell, it dried almost immediately and I'm assured it will wash well.

If you have painting to do I would highly recommend this paint. We took the normal precautions of; removing the birds, opening windows and running fans. I felt completely safe when we brought the birds back in.

Default Re: Paint

I wish painting was all we are doing in my house.
I know from re-construction over the last three years that paint does not smell like it use to. I'm sure it is more people/animal friendly now than it ever was but, it doesn't smell like good ol paint anymore.
