I would say yes Susan, if they aren't in breeding mode and if the cage/flight is big enough. The budgies however would most likely steal the material from the finchs sleep nests etc.

I currently have 3 Society finches in with my 10 Linnies. The linnies destroyed the finch sleeping quarters so I made an opening in the flight cage that only the finches can fit through to get to their outside-the-cage nests/sleep quarters. The Linnies still try to get in there but can't fit through. I saw the lil finches sticking their tongues out the other day at those Linnies.

First always remember no question is ever stupid !! I would never put finches with budgies, budgies can get a bit taratorial and finches are just so small they wouldn't have a chance.now I have found budgies and teils do good together.

The cage I have is really big. It does have a third opening so I may try that. Thanks Joel.

Susan, I forgot to mention (for some of the rest of the membership, as I am sure you already know) that it also depends on the species of finch that is desired to co-habitate with the budgies. I already know you have a Society (soon maybe two or more - lol) , they of course are not as territorial as some finches and have one of the best chances to work out with the budgies. Of course one would watch how they get along (for a long enough period of time) before deciding to leave them together in a large flight. The other usual rule comes into play here also which is best to put them into a new large cage together rather than one the budgies have already claimed as their territoy.

Thanks again. Probably won't do it then. Probably will get another one. Probably will end up with many.

Just my experience but I have had a budgie living with a canary and finches living with canaries. And everybody sang!!!!! The canary actually took care of the budgie who had a bad eye;it was so cute and they became best friends.

Not sure if I want to try it. The two Budgies are pretty bonded.
