Default Question about "ignore user" option

I was just wondering if someone could explain to me how the "Ignore User" option works. Does it just eliminate threads started by the person you choose not to hear from? Does it delete the posts within a thread not started by that person but allow you to see other posts?

Nancy to the best of my knowledge the current ignore feature blocks everything from the user you are ignoring, even PMs. You will be able to view everything else from those not on your 'ignore user' list.

IGNORE A USER:
Go to the user profile of the user you want to ignore, either by clicking on a post and selecting View Public Profile, or searching in the Member List. Click the link Add [User Name] To Your Ignore List located under the upper portion of the user profile.

To manage the list of users on your ignore list, just click on the User CP link in the upper left of any screen and select Buddy/Ignore Lists from the list of options on the left.

Oh my gosh!
No wonder no one sends me PM's and never responds to my posts.

Now I'm all paranoid! I hope it's not me you're wanting to ignore!

LOL Actually I don't want to ignore anyone. I was just curious as to how this option worked. Someone mentioned it in a recent discussion (that is best forgotten). I thought if I didn't know about it maybe others weren't aware of it either.
