Question Parrot GPS Trackers?

My worst nightmare is having one of my babies taken from me. I did some looking around for possible GPS tracking systems for birds, but all I found were collars for dogs.

Does anyone know of a GPS tracking system for birds, or know of one that is in development? I wonder if one could be implanted like an ID chip. I would pay top dollar for one!

I think that's what Jean has in his back, I believe it's through the AKC let me look for the paperwork and I'll get back to you.

My cammies are microchipped, I had this done through my vet, pricing all depends on which company you go with...I mean its not a GPS but if the bird is lost and then found at some point and taken to a vets office of shelter that has the Microchip scanner the owner can then be contacted though the info on the chip.

It s Def. worth the money especially if your bird gets lost and you need proof of ownership, when in some cases having your birds band # is not enough. And it would Def be worth the money after purchasing an expensive bird such as Ivy, the last few Hy's that came though BP were chipped

Tinna what is the AKC? Everytime you say that all I can think of is the American Kennel Club.

It is believe it or not! They do bird chipping. And yes he's just micro'd unfortunately, I'd love a GPS too so if my bird flew away I could step outside, find it, and be realitively unterrified of losing my baby too. Especially if what happened to your bird or my bird was the same as my co-worker.

She had a dog and the neighbor's a few doors down took it and tried to say it was their dog. She called the cops and they ended up taking it to the vet and proving it was her's and she pressed charges. Microchips are thank god wonderful, but say if the gal had a GPS and some hoarder or worse grabbed your bird and sold it etc....you'd be able to find your baby no matter what and prove it was your's.

I haven't heard of any microsized gps tracking devices yet. Believe me when I do, I'll be having it done to my flock.

Sure would be nice to direct the cops right to the location.

ivy is already microchipped, and they are wonderful in theory. but the chances of a stolen bird getting their chip scanned is very slim. there are so many bird owners that have had their birds chipped but their stolen babies have never been returned to them. i really hope someone develops some sort of GPS tracker for birds. we have a monitoring alarm system in our house and i plan to install a camera, but i want to do more.
