Skittles and Rico

So several days ago we moved Rico's cage into Emily's bedroom, where Skittle's and the tiel's cages are. We put Rico's cage on the same wall as Skittle's cage. There's a play gym between the 2 cages. The first 2 days we just pretty much left them in their cages and let them get used to seeing and hearing one another. 2 days ago we let them out together for the first time. We stayed in the room to supervise of course. I think things are going extremely well!! There were a few little squabbles, at first - but not even enough for us to intervene. Then Skittles started preening Rico! She won't let Rico preen her yet, but she does preen him some and they just kind of hang out together. There's been no real aggression, but we still stay with them if we let them out, just in case. Emily has been able to handle both of them at the same time - I was worried about that as Skittles does get jealous when she sees Emily with the other birds. But for some reason she doesn't seem to mind when Emily is handling Rico. Hopefully things will continue to go well and Skittles and Rico will be able to spend lots of play times together.

That's great! Those pics are so sweet - I think they will become best friends! Jerry and Winston had some squabbles early on, and still sometimes, but they work it out. In the beginning I think they're still feeling each other out.
