Default Bella's Flight Feathers

She's got quite a few of them and she is showing them off! Of course she is opting not to fly at this point but at least she has better landings when jumping off her playstands.

Stretch my pretty wings!

I have lots of pretty new feathers that I had to show off!

I was hoping to get a cute picture next to her and her toys but it didn't happen. Still here's a cute picture....

Elastic Parrot!

She's still a cutie pie.

omg, i love that one where she is sideways! so so funny there's something so heartwarming about seeing new flight feathers come in on clipped birds. i used to be all for clipping, but this group has really made me see the other side of things. it makes me smiley

I'm still at a cross roads with her remaining flighted or not. I know she may be unable to do some of the things we do together. I know she is harnessed trained but still I do not know if my house is safe enough for her. My parents are getting there in age and the door has been left OPENED before already a few times. They're lucky I'm around too.

Still I see how Ollie is in a small apartment and how well she manages to manuver about. I do want to let her fledge to learn how to fly and then I'll make the choice if she remains flighted or not. We will be putting the house up for sale so for her safty she may get clipped again and go flighted once situated in an area that's more than 1200 sqf and without people going in/out of the house.

Trish- I'm 100% for birds being allowed to do what they're born to do, if the environment can be made safe to allow it. I'm thinking with your parents accidently leaving doors open...it'd be better to clip Bella for her safety. I think allowing her to fledge is important, and hopefully in the future you'll be able to allow her full flight. I'm so envious of you having Bella be so accepting of her harness! I know I've told you that so many times already though, lol!

Yes, Ollie does do fantastic in my small apartment. She can even make it through doors that are open less than a foot!
