Question Sunflower seeds....

Do you treat with sunflower seeds, shelled?? I ASSUME they need to be unsalted.
I can't find any shelled, unsalted sunflower seeds. Do you use the salted ones? dunno bout all that salt.

Mark

I dont use them as treats at all but if you do be sure that they are unsalted, where are you located ? most pet supply stores, bird stores, organic food stores carry unsalted sunflower seeds. I use nutri berries, or homemade goodies or a grape...

I buy white sunflower in husks. The health food section has raw hulled ones, no salt added. Are you referring to peanuts?

Definitely not OK to use the kind with the salt! They often can't properly excrete salt. Try wild bird seed supply places for the kind in the hull. It might be better to use the kind with hulls so that the bird eats less? When they're already out of the shell the bird can just munch them down.
